Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are in the wild, and just because they have major performance issues doesn’t mean you can’t perform well in battles. For most of the game, you’re probably safe just using the tried-and-true method of running around with the Pokemon you think is the cutest, but sometimes you need a little extra firepower.
Electric-type Pokémon tend to have powerful moves and high special attack ratings, making them valuable team members. Plus, they’ll help you smash any Water-type Pokemon in your path, and pure Electric-types’ only weakness is Ground. In almost every situation, you’ll need an electric type on hand.
Here are the best Electric-type Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violetnot to mention the Legendaries.
These are the Electric-type Pokémon that you can safely ignore. There is a major stat increase between this level and the next, which means any other Pokemon you choose will be stronger than these.
Motisma has the highest stats of that tier, as well as the Levitation ability which makes it immune to ground attacks (but the best Pokemon have it too). Pincurchin actually has strong attack and special attack stats, but its abysmal speed and HP let it down. Dedenne’s The pickup ability sometimes allows him to find items outside of battle, but it won’t do you any favors in a fight. The lowest in the list is Pachirisuwhose low stats and lack of evolution make it a good pet, but a formidable fighter.
C-tier Pokémon are still fairly skippable, though they certainly outperform previous picks.
Among them, Electrode stands out for its exceptional speed, but doesn’t have much else to offer. It can paralyze opponents, but so can Pokémon higher on the list. It is the same for Raichu, which trades speed for power. Raichu gets bonus points for cuteness, but not enough to level him up. The metamorphosis Oricorio in Pom-Pom form has a decent stat spread, but it’s more of a gimmick than a viable team member.
Electric-type Pokemon at this tier are still great choices, with relatively high total stats, and they all have something else to recommend. The electric/flying type Kilowattrel is best in class here, with incredible speed and a good special attack rating that will cause him to deal a lot of damage.
Bellibolt has fantastic defense and special defense, making him ideal against heavy hitters, and his special attack is excellent. If it didn’t have the lowest speed on this list, it would probably be a higher tier.
Pawmi is a great early game pick, but his Pawmot evolution doesn’t quite keep up with that. Of his mid-level stats, only his attack stands out, and Elektross is a better choice if that’s what you’re looking for.
Going through the total statistics, Luxray actually ranks higher than an S-tier pick, but his odd stat distribution hurts him. Luxray has an unusually high attack, but her low special attack and lack of excellent abilities keep her from reaching S-tier. A better bet is Ampharos, whose high special attack and ability to paralyze opponents make it a solid bet. So there is Toxicitya less effective Pokémon overall, whose Poison-type grants it a host of very useful damage resistances.
By numbers, Magnezone is the best Electric-type Pokemon in scarlet and purple, with the highest stat total among Electric-types. It has an incredibly high special attack, which is an Electric-type’s specialty, as well as very high defense and special defense.
Electross isn’t quite as outstanding, but its unusually high attack rating makes it stand out. What really puts it in this tier is its Levitate ability, which makes it completely immune to Ground-type Pokemon. Combined with its strong damage stats, this makes Elektross a fierce competitor.
