Henry Cavill’s dog is in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt next-gen update

Spare a thought for poor old Henry Cavill: once a lanky locks-wearer like Geralt of Rivia, once a chunky chunky-wearer like Superman, now neither. But on the bright side, her adorable dog is now in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, thanks to her next-gen update.

Henry Cavill’s dog, an American Akita named Kal, is a bit of a star in his own right, frequently photographed alongside the actor and seemingly a bit of a staple on set for Cavill’s projects. While filming The Witcher, for example, Kal was said to be on location “all the time.”

And now Kal has been immortalized in digital form, appearing at the Devil’s Pit for players who get the “good” ending to The Witcher 3’s new quest In The Eternal Fire’s Shadow, featured as part of the new long-running CD. Project. – generation update.

CD Projetk lead quest designer Philip Weber has confirmed the Kal spotted by fans was indeed a reference to Cavill’s dog on Twitter. “With the sad news regarding Henry Cavill’s Superman role today,” Weber wrote, “it’s nice that we had a small opportunity to show our appreciation for the great passion and enthusiasm that Henry has evidence for The Witcher”.

Weber was of course referring to today’s news that Cavill won’t be playing Superman, despite announcing the opposite in October. “I just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it’s sad news for everyone,” Cavill wrote in a statement confirming the news. “After all, I won’t be returning as Superman. After being told by the studio to announce my return in October, before they were hired, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life. The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that.

Cavill’s initial Superman announcement was followed by the news that he would be hanging up his shiny silver sword as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher series after the upcoming third season, with Liam Hemsworth taking the role – this which led many to assume that one announcement was the result of the other. Perhaps the writers at Netflix can find it in their hearts to conjure up a new character for Cavill after today’s news, perhaps a long-lost brother, Gerald of the Riviera.

As for The Witcher 3’s next-gen update – which boasts a host of graphical improvements, quality of life features and a handful of new content – it has its own issues on PC. After complaints about player performance, CD Projekt acknowledged the issue, saying it was “actively investigating all reports and will provide an update” soon.
