How to Delete Google Drive Cache

  • You can delete your Google Drive cache on a computer by clearing your browser history.
  • On an Android, you can clear Google Drive’s cache through the app’s Settings menu.
  • iPhone and iPad users can only clear Google Drive cache by deleting and reinstalling the app.

Like most apps and websites, Google Drive has a data cache that it uses to quickly load information you’ve recently accessed. And if you use Google Drive a lot, that cache can swell until it starts hogging storage space.

But however you use Google Drive, you can clear its cache in moments. Here’s how.

How to Delete Google Drive Cache on Mac or PC

If you use the Google Drive website on your Mac or PC, the only way to clear the website cache is to clear your internet browser’s browsing data.

Few (if any) browsers allow you to clear the cache of just one specific site. However, most will allow you to clear your browser cache without deleting your entire browsing history.

In Google ChromeClick on the three dots stacked in the upper right corner of your browser, then hover your mouse over More tools. To select Clear browsing data. In the menu that opens, set the time range to All the timeand check the box labeled Cached images and files. Then click Erase data.

In Microsoft EdgeClick on the three dots in the upper right corner, then The story. In the pop-up window that appears, click the three dots in the upper right corner, then select Clear browsing data. Set the time range to All the timecheck the box labeled Cached images and filesthen click clear now.

Once you’ve done this, you may need to sign in to Google Drive again.

How to Delete Google Drive Cache on Android

The Google Drive Android app has a built-in feature that allows you to clear cache at any time.

1. Open Google Drive and sign in to one of your accounts.

2. Faucet the three stacked lines in the upper left corner of the screen, then select Settings.

3. Scroll down and tap Empty the cachethen confirm that you want to erase it.

You can also press the Cache size ability to limit cache size.

How to Delete Google Drive Cache on iPhone or iPad

The only way to clear most app caches on an iPhone or iPad is to delete the app and reinstall it. Google Drive is no different.

Press and hold your finger on the Google Drive app icon and select Delete app when it appears. Faucet Delete appand then Wipe off again.

You can then reinstall Google Drive for free from the App Store. You will need to sign in to your Google Accounts again.
