Dolby today announced its partnership with the Grammy-winning band Imagine Dragons to host a private concert in ultra-immersive Dolby Atmos surround sound at the upcoming CES technology show in Las Vegas.
The show will take place at 9 p.m. PT on Thursday, January 5 in the Dolby Live Room at the Park MGM complex – a state-of-the-art, 5,200-seat theater equipped to, in Dolby’s own words, “take live performance to the next level by taking listeners inside the music to reveal detail with unparalleled clarity and depth”.
The concert will mark the first time that Imagine Dragons will perform a live set in Dolby Atmos, giving their legions of fans a unique opportunity to enjoy the band’s music in a whole new way.
The concert is to benefit the non-profit Imagine Dragons Tyler Robinson Foundation (TRF), which is dedicated to providing support to families suffering the effects of a childhood cancer diagnosis, as well as more than 35 local charities serving struggling communities in the Las Vegas area.
In fact, thousands of tickets go to the team members and volunteers who serve these organizations, as well as some of the people who benefit from their work.
“We are thrilled to partner with Dolby to bring this special concert into Dolby Atmos to benefit TRF and local charities,” said Dan Reynolds, frontman of Imagine Dragons. “It’s going to be an amazing night with our fans and TRF.”
Dolby and Park MGM will also surprise a number of fans on social media with free tickets to the show, and there will also be radio ticket giveaway contests in the coming days.
The multi-platinum, Grammy-winning Imagine Dragons catalog includes hits such as Bones, Radioactive, Demons, Believer and Thunder, and the group boasts cumulative sales equivalent to 68 million albums, 55 million digital songs and 110 billion streams. . They are the only band in history to have won four RIAA Diamond Singles, and since first bursting onto the scene in 2009, they have managed to achieve five consecutive top 10 debut albums.
Even with such exposure to their music already out there, however, experience with Dolby Atmos music suggests that Imagine Dragons’ Dolby Live debut will deliver a level of musical immersion that even the most dedicated fans won’t. never heard before.
