Portugal: There is already a negative buzz surrounding the chemistry with this team after Bruno Fernandes arrived at camp and coldly greeted his Manchester United team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo. It was awkward, and while unclear, it could have stemmed from the harsh words Ronaldo had about his (now old) club, saying he feels betrayed. It remains to be seen how this might affect the team, but from the outside it was an odd sight to behold. On paper, Portugal have the talent to win the tournament, but keep an eye out for the chemistry between two key attacking elements, Ronaldo and Fernandes.

Ghana: It’s not Ghana with Michael Essien and Stephen Appiah, but there is quality nonetheless. Thomas Partey runs the midfield for this team and there are attacking options in Inaki Williams and Jordan Ayew. Where this team is going to need players to strengthen is in defence, where they lack established international players. One player to watch is Southampton’s Mohamed Salisu, who despite only having one cap should start every game if healthy.

Fernandes and Rafael Leao score as the Portuguese start on a high. Take: Portugal 2, Ghana 0
