We know that the OnePlus 11 will have a big reveal in China on January 4, with a global launch event scheduled for February 7. In the meantime, we’ve heard almost everything about the phone from official and unofficial sources.
Starting with the official news, the OnePlus Weibo feed (opens in a new tab) (via Notebookcheck (opens in a new tab)) continues to churn out nuggets of information: it teases a “Bionic Motor” system for advanced haptics and a “Picture Quality Engine” for boosting frame rates on the phone’s screen.
We also have confirmation of 100W super-fast charging from OnePlus itself and mention of a 5,000mAh battery. OnePlus also showed off a dual-port charger with USB TypeA and Type-C ports – perhaps indicating there won’t be a charger in the box.
Specifications and design
As far as rumors and unofficial leaks go, it’s hard to keep track of everything at this point. A regulatory filing in China (via Android Police (opens in a new tab)) listed the phone as having a 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display with a resolution of 3126 x 1440 pixels and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor to keep it all going.
There will be 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. As for the rear camera, we’re expecting a 50MP + 48MP + 32MP triple-lens setup with 2x optical zoom. The front camera is listed as a single-lens 16MP module.
Meanwhile at 91mobiles (opens in a new tab) we have real-world photos of the OnePlus 11 in hand, while tipster Abhishek Yadav also shared (opens in a new tab) several renders of the handset on Twitter – these go hand in hand with the actual promotional images that OnePlus itself has posted.
Analysis: a good start to 2023
The OnePlus 11 will be the first flagship phone to be unveiled this year, and the signs look promising: it comes with just about everything you’d want in a premium handset for 2023, from cameras to internal processor.
We’ve got Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor under the hood, which is expected to power many high-end Android handsets over the course of the year – it’s going to be the fastest chipset option for Android makers for some time to come. time.
There are generous helpings of RAM and internal storage here, and – from the specs list at least – the rear camera module looks promising (and Hasselblad is involved again). The screen also sounds premium.
Of course, we can’t really judge a smartphone until we’ve actually tested it, but from what we know so far, it looks like the OnePlus 11 is going to combine all the right ingredients. It’s likely to be one of the best phones we see in 2023.
